The defeat of the British

The road to freedom from the British was hard. In the beginning the British were winning then the colonies got smart and learned the Guerrilla style of fighting. One of the more famous Guerrilla type fighters was Francis Marion. He would hide in swamps and harass the British supply men and cut off communication from the British to Charles town . The tides were slowly turning. Then at the last major battle of the Revolution, the U.S. colonies defeated the British at Yorktown and thus was the last major battle of the war. It was planned well by General George Washington with the support of the French. First the French cut off the navel support of the British then The colonies cornered General Cornwallis in a Peninsula in Chesapeake Bay.
